Fran Schlosser is a Calgary-based artist and instructor known for her intuitive and vibrant realism. With a passion for portraiture and figurative work, she captures the essence of her subjects through dynamic color and expressive technique. Fran has studied with renowned artists across Canada, the USA, and Europe, showcasing her work in numerous exhibitions and teaching art at elite retreats in the Mexican Mayan Riviera. Whether painting bold knife strokes or delicate pastel portraits, she approaches her art with curiosity, joy, and a deep love for storytelling through imagery.

Project Goals

Fran used to have a website but found it to be costing more than it was worth and it was feeling outdated and hard to update. She wanted a website that:

  • Attracted more opportunities

  • Was easy to update so adding new content wasn’t overwhelming

  • Accurately reflected the brand and business she had worked so hard
    to build over the years

  • Showcased her art in a beautiful gallery that’s easy for people to
    buy from

  • Was able to host her online art courses.

“The Before”

Until we started working together, Fran didn’t have a website or a cohesive brand. She wasn’t able to apply to juried shows without one and really wanted to have a place to sell her artwork online. Her courses were hosted on different platforms, and everything felt scattered.

“My old website was not easy to work with and was becoming so expensive for so little. I dropped it and when I felt the need for a new one, after several failed tries to do it myself, gave up. When Pam came along and offered to do it I said yes, and was quite excited when I heard her ideas. “

“It was such a delightful process and I am so happy with the final product! Pamela was so easy to work with, and was able to create a website that exceeded the vision I had in my mind of this virtual space. She was so very patient, and gently encouraged me to keep making changes until I was 100% thrilled with the look and feel of each particular element”

Branding

Fran’s art is full of deep rich color, so I chose a simple black and white palette and sleek, simple fonts reminiscent of a luxurious gallery space, that highlighted the richness of Fran’s work.

This combination of black, white, and the bold rich colors of Fran’s paintings create a gallery-like feel to showcase Fran’s artwork.

Collage featuring a logo with stylized signature and text 'art by Fran,' two photographs of women, one in black and white with pearl necklace and another smiling with yellow flowers and a black wide-brimmed hat, an interior living room scene with sofa and artwork, a painting of a woman with beads, and color blocks in white and black, along with sample fonts labeled "Lato" and "Oswald".

Logo Design

I created a logo using Fran’s signature which is perfect for an artist to “sign” their work with online.

Signature-style text reading 'Ivan Schlepsser' with 'Art by Fran' underneath.

The Website

I brought the fonts, branding, logo, and copy together to create a beautiful new home for Fran’s artwork that showcases her work with a sleek, gallery-like feel. Including these pages:

- Core Pages: Home, Gallery, Commissions, Events, Courses, About
- Set up an e-Commerce store for
Fran’s Paintings
- Full Membership Site with Courses
- Retreat Sales Page

Results

Since launching the site Fran has created a new community of artists called Art Street Collective, she’s been invited to a group auction online event, she has two spaces booked in her retreat and is planning a Gala event in the Fall.

“My website is SO beautiful!! As a person that believes ’if you want it done right, do it yourself’, so understandable that I had reluctance about outsourcing a website build. I mean how hard can it be?

And then I meet Pamela, and she offers to do my website build, and I hire her. I was won over by her insight into my vision of the space. In fact she clarified many ideas and brought them to life, better than I imagined from only a few short conversations.

The whole ‘birthing’ process was painless and surprisingly easy. She helped me make the right decisions when I was indecisive, gently urged me to submit material when I was procrastinating and always knew we’d get to a gorgeous finish. I must say I am so pleased and proud to share my website. Thank you Pam!”
